The Potters Guild is pleased to that announce we are accepting applications for Adjunct Membership.

Please understand that it is possible that we may not have room for any new members.  Application does not guarantee membership, however, all interested potters are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline for this year is December 23rd, 2023.

If you are interested in applying for membership, you must do the following:

  1. Present a show of 5 pieces, made within the last 2-3 years. A set could count as 1 piece of work. Example - a teapot and 6 mugs = 1 piece. Consult with the membership chair if needed.

  2. Provide an art related Resume and Artist Statement. You should include a history of your ceramic experience, a statement about why you want to become a member of the Guild, and what you would bring to the Guild as a member. Including a photograph of yourself is strongly encouraged. People will know your face, but may not remember your name.

  3. Please email electronic versions of your paperwork and photograph to Jeri Hollister (jerih@umich.edu)

  4. Please have everything (5 pieces and your written materials) delivered to the Guild between December 9th and December 23rd. Please take them upstairs, making sure your boxes and materials are clearly marked with your name and contact information. Include an inventory sheet and clearly mark what is included in your set(s) if you have any. Please do not unpack your boxes.

  5. You can drop off your work any time a member is present. Please call ahead to confirm someone is at the Guild (734-663-4970) before bringing in your work.

The membership show will remain up for approximately 4 weeks. The Potters Guild members view the show and fill out a written evaluation for each candidate. The membership committee will tally the results and present them to the membership meeting. The membership meeting is scheduled for January 28th. The number of new members accepted is based on the shelf space available and Guild needs. Once we have voted, one of the membership committee members will call each candidate within 24 hours to inform them of the results.  For detailed information about rights and responsibilities of adjunct membership, go to www.pottersguild.net and click on membership, then scroll down to Adjunct Member.

You may also contact us with questions or to make arrangements if you have difficulty delivering your work. See contact information below.

We look forward to seeing your work and thank you for your interest.
